Ghetto Bass 2 Mixed By Herve
Cheap Thrills

If you’re familiar with the works of Herve you’ll know there is never a dull moment – and the same outlook extends to his DJing. Cheap Thrills is a rough ride across a beer soaked dancefloor, with some cracking dirty house cuts all stitched together with all manner of euphoric chants, synth stabs and bruising bass lines. This much at least applies to the endorphin release that is CD1, bursting with sped-up funk and disco, all fed through a house music transmitter. Few remixes can match that dished out to Cassius by Reset – ‘Youth, Speed, Trouble, Cigarettes’ is all that and more with its huge bassline. CD2 goes off piste a lot more, exploring some darker corners of drum ‘n’ bass and making a considerable impact when it gets to the Chase & Status mix of Nneka’s ‘Heartbeat’. Proof that Herve can mix it up a bit, even if rough and ready house remains his first and best discipline.
