Off Track Vol. 3: Brooklyn Mixed By Kon & Amir
BBE

This extremely serviceable compilation from Kon & Amir, boasting rare ghetto disco, funk and African boogie, adds more power to BBE’s elbow as one of the premier labels around for digging out the crates. These latest discoveries from the Brooklyn area are mostly of the bright and breezy variety, with tracks such as Randolph Baker’s ‘Getting Next To You’, ‘S.F.B.’s ‘Burnin’ Up’ and the perky horn section of Twilight’s ‘Play My Game’ all working their magic. CD2 continues the upward trend, with Harry Mosco’s ‘Step On’ a funky call to arms and Dizzy K’s ‘Take It To The DJ’ winding things up at the close. This does the job nicely for any funk and disco DJs looking for something a bit different to play out – plenty of choice here.
