Pacha Ibiza Chillout Classics
New State

It’s good to note that chillout compilations of recent times have stopped being so lazy, trawling their record collections a bit more intensively in search of the ultimate blissed out moments. The latest to do this is Pacha, who present an excellent value set of three mixes for one. While occasionally the glaringly obvious is used – a Groove Armada here and a Lemon Jelly there – it is well worth sticking with for the original choices, like Chris Rea’s ‘Josephine’ on CD3. The third really is the best of the mixes, segueing nicely from Chilly Gonzales’ ‘You Can Dance’ into Jamiroquai’s ‘Seven Days In Sunny June’. Elsewhere the mixing – presumably done digitally – is a bit more approximate, but that doesn’t matter so much with music that is nice ‘n’ easy. Well worth seeking out to file alongside more specialist Ibiza chillout material.
