Platform is a new series for the ever-evolving Renaissance, and is described as ‘a mix that takes inspiration from the classic Detroit sound and the contemporary dancefloor’. Christian Smith takes that lead to produce a fine first mix, with a spacey opening section that moves through the breakbeats of Technasia’s ‘Crosswalk’ to his wonderfully swirly collaboration with John Selway, ‘Daytona’. CD2 gets on with things at a faster pace and with a heavier beat, that is until Guy J’s ‘Bianca’ introduces a welcome Balearic warmth to proceedings. From there on it’s a good run-in, particularly when Florian Meindl’s ‘Here Today Gone Tomorrow’ drops.
