Label head Leigh Morgan mixes this first compilation in a new series from Urban Torque, and it’s quite simply one of the best deeper house mixes you’ll take in this year. Morgan paces the tempo and intensity just right, so that by the times tracks from Scope, Shur-I-Kan, Scope and Master H come on, you’ll be pulling the headphones closer to fully appreciate the rounded bass and reassuring weight of the kick drum. Everything about this mix is just right – excellent chilled atmosphere, a slight edge to the riffs and beats that is easy to latch on to and gets you on your feet, and mixing from Morgan that knows just when to move on to the next track. All of which sounds very easy – until you try and do it yourself! An essential deep house album for 2008.
