VARIOUS
WORLD SERVICE 2 – MIXED BY DAVE CLARKE
RESIST

Four years after causing just a few ripples of interest with his World Service mix release, Dave Clarke presents Volume Two, no doubt likely to generate similar levels of excitement and devotion amongst fans, and maybe convert a few newcomers.  As with the first volume, it’s the DJ persona of Mr Clarke that’s on offer, channelling funky-assed electro, real techno, and a good dose of Detroit booty / ghetto-tech into two CDs. The likes of Alden Tyrell, The Advent, Anthony Rother, Sterac, DJ Rush, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Joey Beltram, Co-Fusion and Underground Resistance jostle with more ‘underground’ names like Junesex, Imatran Voima, Voisoc, & Dynarec.  As with the first volume, the two CDs are split into electro and techno / ghetto-tech, and Dave Clarke displays his infectious enthusiasm, providing a diverse and energetic mix, represented in both the mixing and track programming.  If anything, two CDs aren’t enough – the audience really is left wanting more.  Yes, that’s what every great DJ should be doing, and all credit to the man for distilling this into a two-CD set, but here’s hoping that it’s not another four year wait for the next installment in a series that actually lives up to it’s title. Awesome.
