Germany’s Anthony Rother doesn’t need much introduction. His output over the last 15 years or so has been a staple for most electronic djs, thanks to his knack of creating furiously addictive beats and riffs with alien soundscapes. Now he joins the likes of Dave Clarke, Joris Voorn, Adam Beyer and Deetron at Belgium’s illustrious Fuse. Starting with the charged electro of John Starlight’s “Shadowbreaker”, the mix soon settles into a minimalist groove via releases from Studio 1 aka Wolfgang Voight, Leke De Loco, Fetish & ME (the awesome “Discotecktonic”), taking it up a notch for the techy Utku Dalmaz. Elsewhere, Mad Mike, Pig & Dan, and Baustein feature, leading to a stunning electro finale from La Rez with “Wo Kommen Wir Her (Frank Kusserow Remix)”. Fluid, constantly shifting across the spectrum, it’s one of those techno mixes that’s not aimed at the dancefloor and is all the better for it.
