There comes a point at precisely one minute into ‘No Critic’ when the low-end truly kicks in and you can feel it knocking your senses sideways. But when you add the devilish, rumbling bassline, cutting synth stabs along with a voice-over describing the role of critic it’s then you realise that Dennis Cruz produces music that is both above and beyond. ‘Microphones’ continues with the heavy-duty notation as does ‘Caminante No Hay Camino’ which completes the first-rate EP via a soaring b-line plus a feast of fiery percussion.
