Believe it or not but after what must be over a hundred releases, this is actually Andy Weatherall’s first record under his own name, a debut EP which is clearly showing that his new ‘band’ direction is finally taking shape. With plenty of nods at Joy Division, Gang Of Four, PIL, The Cure, A Certain Ratio, the inspiration here is clearly the early eighties when post-punk new-wave and the emerging electronic funk/dance scene started to mix. However Weatherall, who even attempts singing to convincing results, makes a point of delivering solid compositions and not just meagre jams.
