With the progressive/tribal massive now well on board the deep-electro bandwagon, labels like Poker Flat have become rather big. Here the young Greek turns out another standout choon, the kind of syncopated narco-funk that’ll turn on those who’ve been partying for (at least) a few days. Based on the eerie vocals of Lara Ramos, a skippy latin groove, mechanical slap bass, druggy sound effects and a couple of surprising breakdowns that drop to the bare minimum (an organic claves sequence), ‘La Passion’ is unquestionably, er, different.
