This new re-fitting of the previously instrumental “Kaze” sees Koop’s Yukimi Nagano provide a brand new lead vocal, managing to lift it to incredible heights in the process. The vocals mixed with the killer Latin vibes and flying percussive groove make it both feel and sound like some lost Blue Note recording – it captures a genuine old school charm without ever sounding deliberately retro. “Quiet Dawn” follows a more traditional path but still shows why these Japanese artists are leading the way with jazz, old or new. Both tracks are from the forthcoming Sleep Walker compilation “Work”.
