FELIX DA HOUSECAT
READY TO WEAR (MIXES)
EMPEROR NORTON

What happened to Felix? One minute he’s the king of electro-clash and the next he puts out a really disappointing album. Apparently largely based on some old italo choon ‘Ready To Wear’ was the one track on ‘Devin Dazzle And The Neon Fever’ which still gave you confidence in Chicago’s coolest  cat (126 BPM). Now benefiting from a couple of first class remixes, this nostalgic euro-disco number is ready to put him back where he belongs. The Paper Faces mix is maybe not Lu Cont’s best (it lacks a little momentum) but still boasts some eighties clubby pop licks (131). No doubt it is the Benny Benassi mix, for mixing rave, rock and house so well, which will cause much damage here (129). You can’t argue that the Benassi brothers’ sound works for so many different djs out there, God knows how they manage it (well they don’t always, maybe that is the answer).
