Out on new Parisian label Rise the first Klanguage 12” is the work of another French duo on the way up: classically trained DJ/producer Yuksek and singer Marianne Élise. Listening to ‘The Message’ it’s obvious that musical influences stretch way beyond the electro scene with acknowledged inspiration ranging from Tricky to Radio 4. The original has got a thumpy rock punch (big beat & guitars) with typically Gallic male/female vocal interaction – altogether dropped in the useful dub (128 BPM). Tomy Lobo (aka dj Erik Rug, present in the capital’s clubs for twenty years) delivers a dancefloor friendly ‘kiddy disco’ interpretation.
