The hole in the elephant’s bottom, every elephant’s got’ em. So sang Roy Hudd and created an anthem. Since then, the elephant has carried a special place in electronic dance music, whether it be in heaviness of groove or the approximating of his trumpeting on minimal track. Here it sounds like the elephant stomping along swinging his pendulous todger blasting melodies from that legendary hole while being serenaded by an acid big band. The culprit is veteran Norwegian producer Per Martinsen, who first appeared on R&S in the early 90s before launching Love OD in 1995. The track is an impossible-to-describe monster while Rune Lindbaek’s edit bends the crazed orchestrations into new shapes. Initially part of some ill-fated e-bay experiment it’s now available as digital download only, which is a shame as it’s too big for that.
