NEW ORDER
KRAFTY
WARNER

The godfathers of the British indie-electronic scene have an eagerly awaited new album coming out soon (some exciting collaborations including a couple of tracks made with Jacques Lu Cont). Apparently they’re back at doing albums that are half pop-rock, half dance because they’ve realised that when performing live it was often the clubby ones that were getting the best reaction. First single ‘Krafty’ is good ol’ New Order on glorious pop form (139 BPM) – if unfortunately a little too predictable in sound and style (that’s ‘radio airplay’ pressure for you). Luckily the Phones Reality remix takes the vocals into an inspired electro context that suits the song and dancefloors alike (classical strings, edgy synths and pumping beats at 134 BPM). This is pretty much how New Order would sound today if its members were one or two decades younger, so it’s cool. The Glimmers do their industrial funk thang over two decent mixes, a vocal and a harder dub, but at 139 these are resolutely a little fast (also Riton dub).
