Borrowing from about a dozen styles and genres at once, then hitting ‘blend’, Key Skills hyper-kinetic production wares skitter perfectly under Shystie’s electrifying rap delivery. This girl knows how to deliver a verse, covering multiple subjects at breakneck speed, having no trouble keeping apace with the hyped breaks. No points for spotting Benny Bennasi or The Prodigy referenced in the backing track. And if it sounds a little familiar, this originally came to light in Channel 4’s Dubplate Drama TV series, and now sees an official release after the huge buzz that it attracted. Seriously good.
