MIAMI WMC 2005 SAMPLER
BRIQUE ROUGE/FREAK’N’CHIC

Pillars of that new electronic house sound which is slowly taking over the druggy dancefloors, French labels Brique Rouge and Freak’N’Chic have have joined forces for a 4 track Miami sampler. Minimal, chuggy and hypnotic their releases are on that stoned house tip that works in warehouse parties the world over. Like Hardfloor back in the mid-nineties Remork’s ‘Bemelo’ is hinting at acid with a little humour and much groove (123 BPM). J. Rod & Pat Nice’s ‘Peter Pan’ is an old-school groove with bits of rap (from one Joe Good and inspired by Criminal Element Orchestra’s ‘Back To The Scene Of Crime’) until 303 washing machines go right into one (121). Ray Wilbern’s ‘Shake It Again’ offers a nice electro-funk vibe à la Chicken Lips.
