Originally out last winter on the ever entertaining A Touch Of Class label, ‘Give Me The Night’ is of course a cover of the George Benson classic. Done soberly in a bumpy electro-disco vein (118 BPM), the label’s bosses/producers/DJs Oliver & Domie and Scissor Sisters’ Babydaddy have done a fine job at turning this wedding favourite into a party fave on the right side of poofy disco. Let’s hope it won’t turn into a nightmare now that Virgin’s got hold of it. On the first promo to surface George Thompson aka the Plastic Avengers (Output/Crosstown) strips it down to… er, not much but luckily he also provides a useful re-edit that teases and swiftly lets go (119 BPM).
