FOALS – WHAT WENT DOWN (REMIXES) – WARNER MUSIC

What The Foals don’t know about crafting perfect pop songs can be written on the back of a pinhead. They are that talented. So why read any further. Let’s just say Mura Masa – winners of the BBC’s Sound of 2016 completely rewire ‘Night Swimmers’ into a wonky, wobbly, syncopated excursion with a bass drop that will pull your knickers over the top of your head and give you the biggest afro-centric, township influenced wedgy that you’ve ever had in your life.

It is a thing of pure joy, believe. Alex Metric continues in his bid to house us to heaven and back with a boisterous, bassline-led reworking of ‘Mountain At My Gates’ that is a stepper’s delight. Bondax takes ‘Give It All’ for a sticky swim and a wade through an arrangement peppered with crisp, crashes, bone crushing beats and a bassline that is taut like a tendon. Lindstrom coil the same track like copper wire around an atmospheric conductor until it bursts into a fuzzy bass propelled, psychedelic disco dance off of the highest order. It will make you smile from beginning to end.
