Hifi Sean aka Sean Dickson has been among us for quite some time and it would be nothing but cheap to reduce him to his monster ‘Testify’ which featured vocals from Crystal Waters and hit us all via Defected last year. The man from Glasgow who is now a Londoner has so much more to offer as he is an integrated and active part of the international House and Disco scene and beside releasing some biggies, also finds time and effort to drop tunes on smaller labels which is a good move for me. ‘The Music’ however will see the light of day on one of the best outlets, Luke Solomon and Derrick Carter’s Classic Music Company. Setting out to make a great house record, Sean jumped on a plane to house mecca Chicago for inspiration, working with an ex-TRAX Records engineer, they got the incredible Celeda (who sang on Danny Tenaglia’s perennial ‘Music Is The Answer’) to lend her timeless voice. Sounding like James Brown made a Chicago house record with Vogue string stabs and some gospel stomps in the mix, the track should sum up the feelings and goosebumps you get, when hearing a standout tune for the first time. Needless to say the production is top notch-as are the vocals. A secret battle weapon here is the immense Dub, a proper floorfiller in the making! According to Sean he has a couple of more singles ready to drop-so the future looks bright-for him and us!
