The bloke who raps at a ludicrously high speed teams up with the small dude with plush clothes… and the result is a sure-fire hit in the discotheque. ‘Give It Up’ is of course produced by Pharrell and uses the stripped-down minimalist approach that worked so well on ‘Drop It Like Its Hot’ – raw drums and little else, really. Twista meanwhile simply blabs about the usual booze-and-girls club capers and throws in a cheesy Red Hot Chili Peppers quote along the way. Formulaic MTV rap it may certainly well be, but dull it aint.
