House music is totally invoke right now, specifically deep house music, and few do it better than Acumen. He is a French producer who runs his own label Acumen, and that is where he most often offers up his wares. He does so again here in some style, with two new original cuts and a fine remix from Moon Harbour artist Sven Tasnadi. The opening track of the fine EP is ‘Patience’, with its downbeat synths layered over rubbery drums and a deep hose framework, There is some angst and energy in the bones of the track though as it slowly but surely build to a nice peak. For his part, Sven Tasnadi flips the track into a more supple and baseline driven track with army, icy ho hats and tightly coiled baseline all bringing the heat. Finally, Equilibre bubbles and boils with big hymnal chords layered over the elastic drums. Its a nice mid set builder that adds colour and an element of intergalactic fantasy to proceedings. Once again then this French crew have come up trumps.
