While it was still steaming off the CD burner it was obvious that ‘Silky Sunday’ was going to be huge and it still is. I’ve been going on about Italy’s Rebirth label since their first release and this seems to be the tune which has now made the whole world wake up to its uncanny knack for unleashing sublime dancefloor monsters combining soul and mighty groove-power. For their next release, the label takes a trip to the Italo-disco with another towering behemoth, this time created by Luca ‘DJ Rocca’ Roccatagliati and Fabrizio ‘Taver’ Tavernelli, residents at Reggio Emilia’s notorious Maffia club. Ajello have already appeared on Mantra Vibes with 2006’s Spasm Odyssey album, Radius and Deep Freeze. The original is spaced, sexy and intertwined with heavenly melodies while remixes come from Essen’s Langenberg setting up a deep, hynotic Chi-style loop-locomotive, Tensnake charting classic space-disco territory with eerie sax lines and Barry Reeves, aka Dicky Trisco, who edits up the original into a shimmering Italo groove-charge. Second track, ‘Dolphy’ starts on ‘I Feel Love’ before taking off on its intergalactic disco flight-path which is then spaced and stretched into a blissful state of floating euphoria by In Flagranti. Another titanic set.
