Antonio Thagma – Leather – (Visionquest)

Visionquest looks to a new name now for its next release. That name is Antonio Thagma who is someone very much on the rise. Before now he has had a big summer as part of Emerging Ibiza and really impressed with his DJ skill. Now he impresses with his studio skill on what is a first proper solo release. He serves up three tracks of great tech that are sure to make a big impact on the floor. ‘Leather Soul’ is first and is a quick, slick and prickly tune riddled with great melody and inventive sounds. It is compelling and peak time and really will suck in the dance floor. ‘Doing That’ is again a fulsome production with a fat bottom end and tough kicks, and this time it comes with weird vocal stitched into the groove. Wobbly synths add a sense of dynamism and again it doesn’t take much to imagine this one really making a big mark. Closing out what is an impressive first EP is ‘Inmahouse’. This one is all about the drunken, gloopy synth sounds that rise up and down throughout the mix. It has paddy drums down low and lots of aqueous textures that make it a truly fluid affair. Given that this is really Thagma’s first ever outing, it really does impress in many different ways. Here’s to much more from the man in the future.
