A welcome return from the LA trumpeter who grew up to run one of the biggest record companies in the world (Alpert is the A in A&M) and help launch the careers of the Police, Sheryl Crow and Janet Jackson. As an artist, backed by his Tijuana Brass section, he enjoyed his greatest success in the early-‘60s, but by the late-‘70s had morphed his style to cater for the burgeoning jazz-funk market. During this time ‘Rise’ became the must-have album winning a Grammy to underscore its importance. Now to coincide with its reissue, ‘Aranjuez (Mon Amour)’ is remixed in the subtlest of ways and backed with the album’s standout track, ‘Rotation’, extended to near 7minute glory. One for fans and purists alike.
