Charli XCX (writer of Icona Pop’s mega hit ‘I Don’t Care’) returns with ‘Superlove’ and a package of remixes to attack every floor. Yeassayer remix is dark and brooding, probably best for radio (even if the arrangement drowns the vocal out once the bagpipes get going towards the end. Bagpipes? Yes Bagpipes? Well it will soon be Hogmanay I suppose …) Mike Mago delivers two solid bass house remixes – for sure the deep house heads will run screaming to the hills with this cheeky marriage of outright pop with their coveted ‘underground’ sound but with the runaway chart successes of Disclosure, Duke Dumont et al I suppose it was inevitable. This aside, the mix is pretty good and the dub for sure is stronger, better and far less * disguises self before play *. Canblaster has by far the best and most powerful intro which drops into a bleating, fx-ed vocal and sub bass led, staccato pad-prompted stompathon and that’s your lot. You’ll either superlove it or you won’t.
