Chromeo
Bonafied Lovin’ (Mixes)
Backyard

What a fine record this is – and it makes you feel like you’re caught in a
1980s timewarp. Such is the polish, expert production and superb lyrics that
this immediately puts a smile on your face, even before the chorus! Chromeo
are romantics at heart, and their promise of candle-lit hot dinners looks
set to win the girl. If that doesn’t the funky groove surely will. On the
remix front Headman introduces a dirty bass with a shuffling beat, the
Teenagers and Yuksek bring the synths out to play in their funky versions,
and Riot In Belgium & Ooh-ee add a strongly Gallic flavour that suits the
vocals really well. Such are the vocals they work well in all these versions
– but once again the original is best for feelgood funk.
