Disclosure – Holding On Ft. Gregory Porter (Island)

So about that second Disclosure album… Things seem to be shaping up nicely for the boys with ‘Bang That’ already having featured on the DMC Buzz Chart and now here’s ‘Holding On’ featuring the Grammy winning gospel / soul / jazz singer in the business Mr Gregory Porter.  As tardis trips and productions go, it could be Kerri Chandler circa 1998/9 if you’re old or anorak enough and if you close your eyes very tightly. Fresh from his success with Claptone’s remix of ‘Liquid Spirit’, Gregory’s opening volley, the extended ‘Hold’ is a clarion call to the dancefloor that works every time. It’s skippy, clicky, bounces on the beat much like ‘Bar A Thym’ and wrings every drop of feeling from your emotions with the lyrics and melodic synth washes. Hold tight, Summer just got its groove on.
