The original is a beguiling slice of sun-drenched goodness entitled “Centipede” Shimmying from side-to-side and picking up dazzling layers along the way, its ominous tendencies and engrossing vocals are what mark it out as an effort of real distinction. The grinding synth, meanwhile, only serves to add fuel to the fire.
Hobbes’ remix is more ethereal in sound and pace, as the celestial pads bring an engrossing and arresting sense of calmness to proceedings. Almost dream-inducing in structure (were it not, perhaps, for the interjecting beats), this is house music of a confident and assured nature. The finest of the lot on show, it nonetheless gets great competition from Martin Emit and Oncina too. A thoroughly arresting effort.
