I’ll be honest I don’t know much about Greek producer DJ Angelo, but the blurb for this release stressed his pedigree. It needn’t have – the sophistication on the production hints at a master of his craft and the patience in the build and subtle interweaving of elements suggests this is a DJ that has done his time learning how to really build a set.
The result is a sleek slab of tech house that manages to retain a brooding charm amidst the melancholy, making excellent use of a cello solo from Myrto Joyce. Fans of Kompakt, Bedrock and early Visionquest will lap it up. Timmy Regisford doesn’t do much with his remix/edit other than lose a little of tracks immediacy for a more innocuous affair, which is perfect for less intense palettes.
