Dosem – City Cuts

Spanish producer and DJ Dosem is someone who releases an awful lots of tracks. Somehow he always manages to come up with the goods and here he does so on one of the leading labels to have come out of his country in recent years, namely Suara. Entitled City Cuts, this one is a follow-up to the critically acclaimed albums, ‘Parallel’ and ‘Origin’. Once again this album showcases Dosem’s ability to craft a number of different moods and grooves with equal élan. It touches on a number of styles from deep slick house to more main room tech but the whole thing flows perfectly well as one album. Things kick off with the moody Runner Park, a spine tingling tech builder that makes way for the deeper, more heads down Message. After that comes the loopy tech business of Expression that could be an old DJ Sneak jam, then Lost Taxi gets all ambient, spiritual and hugely melodic. The rest of the album continues on a house tip, rather an evolution for Dosem who usually operates in the techno realm. He can do house just as well though, and the title track is a nicely aired, bouncy bit of 4/4 that will keep dancers rolling all night long.
