It’s a rare thing for me to hear a record these days and smile like a preteen hearing something new and exciting and something I had to have for myself. Think the last time might’ve been Duffy’s ‘Mercy’. Several thousand records have come and gone in between and then – BANG! It’s little surprise really, as nearly everything this charismatic collective does is original, polished and done with a distinct sense of humour. This is no different. It might not be ‘new’ as such, ‘I’m In Love’ was originally a disco hit for Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King in the early ’80s, but turning it into a lover-rocker lilt with a contemporary rap adds a whole new dimension to the song. I’m still smiling.
