Durty Fresh was raised in the heart of Hackney, East London and started his career as an MC. Now he is making house music with tons of raw groves and here he pops up on the Mental Genius label with four more such cuts. Each one is full of attitude and bottles up a whole world of influences. Up first, Andiamo is an electro tinged, frazzled house groove with nice synth lines and searching, sweeping laser sounds that will really get floors into a sweat. Whats My Name is a more funky, playful tune with ditty melodies and stabs and Jamie Jones style rolling drums as well as some eponymous vocal lines. DEA also drops into a future electro funk groove and marries sombre chords with space age melodies. Lastly, Cocaine Disco Shit is a chilly, metallic and trip track with steel drums, reflective synths and lots of great dance floor appeal.
