Okay, before you dismiss this as just another Loleatta Holloway bootleg re-treading familiar ground (indeed the path is pretty well worn when it comes to ‘Love Sensation’) you’d be forgiven for thinking, for the first three minutes at least, that there wasn’t a screaming diva in sight. Maverick does what he did to Technotronic and easy you into a false sense of security before hitting with the sucker punch – Loleatta’s glass-shattering vocal gymnastics. Riding a synth-laced slab lite-progressiveness this is so sexy you can almost feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand to attention.
