FELIX DA HOUSECAT
WATCHING CARS GO BY
EMPEROR NORTON

It can be difficult to follow Felix’s whereabouts. At times he’s brilliant (most of “Kittenz And Thee Glitz” and “I Know Electrik Boy”) and at others he’s plain disappointing (most of last album “Devin Dazzle & The Neon Fever”, numerous rushed remixes). It’s as if since being caught in the middle of the electro-clash big bang the American don had been looking for something he’s not quite found yet. He certainly made a striking impression in 2003 with “Cyberwhore”, a bass-led monster that owed quite a bit to punk funk and that was huge in all the best clubs. Now renamed “Watching Cars Go By” this slow burner, too good to be missed by house DJs, is being rereleased with new mixes from a couple of heavyweights. Armand Van Helden drops the lead line and deliver a big room monster (guitars, loud tribal drums and insane lifts & drops) whilst Sasha has a go at fucked-up house, turning out one of his rockier productions ever.
