A richly deserved best of for the prolific Hull duo, one of dance music’s evergreen acts. Quality has been a consistent watchword with them, and their relaxed eye for an easy going groove, a funky bassline and a quirky sample or two has served them well. This is typified by ‘Sheriff’, while ‘A Zed and Two L’s’ exploits the difference between a long, breathy chord sequence and a sudden interruption of drum and bass. ‘Thatched Neon’ and the like will be familiar to connoisseurs of late night soundtracks, and if you’re wanting an intro to the band and their wealth of positive music, this is the way in. Electronic music would be poorer without them.
