Craft Music are on a roll with this hugely likeable track from the dynamic duo of Play Paul & Nicos Marcos. It starts off relatively sedately with the type of congas and bongo programming you would expect from a funky house record on Defected. Do not be fooled, dear reader, because what is about to follow is so damn heavy it’s almost too much for most nightclubs. This is the kind of distorted madness that you normally only hear at 140bpm traveller techno free parties. The main riff slips up and down the keyboard only really in tune for a limited amount of time, all backed up by a rolling bass and filthy aggressive hi-hats. It’s left to Jan Driver to tidy things up and bring proceeding out of the realm of lunacy. He does this very cleverly by retaining the riff but chopping it up, so that it impact is reduced to a manageable level. Great use of filtering keeps things interesting and the breakdown is huge: One for the boys. Grrr.
