FreakMe presents a new three track EP for Get Physical that is a rhythmic treat. ‘Float Away’ taps gently on your psyche, driven by polyrhythmic synths and beats that tumble and roll over each other like undulating ocean waves ; gathering momentum at each turn, some ominous subs loom large, some keys trip and fizz lightly, refreshing the top end. Then the vocal cuts through like light refracting and bent through the mirrored surface, revealing a depth of emotion and its full spectrum of emotional colour. ‘Dis Pater’ is another animal altogether, skulking through the shadows, rustling the grass, making itself heard and not seen. A doorbell rings, then tropical bamboo keys brighten the mood whilst some synths skitter across the arrangement like colourful geckos sheltering from the sunshine. As admirable as it is beautiful, the whole EP is a valuable addition to any respectable deep tech house play list.
