Ghost Ft. Claptone – Clap Your Hands (Say Yeah) – Exploited

This is the my single of the week and without exception the most captivating vocal track I have heard since this Horse year blinked open its eyes and snorted a sigh of relief at 2013’s passing.

‘Clap your Hands’ is all about the sexual swells, the rise and fall, the yearning and learning and pricks one’s desire to learn the lyrics and keep this song playing in your head at times when it would be considered louche to crank your soundsystem up to 11. Folk guitars and a druggy indie vocal roam through the string and guitar arrangement like lovers losing themselves in a hazy field of high summer corn and the instrumental has a romanticism that makes you want to love the world despite its many ills. I’m proud I bought this because it gives me a ‘worth every centime’ drug free rush every time I listen to it. I wish I’d been in the studio when they made this – but then again I’d have been an embarrassing mess and only able to gush a breathless ‘you’refuckiungbrilliantyoulot’ then slink out of the room unnoticed. Take it from me, this is a deep house track par excellence and a crossover track guaranteed. Bravo Claptone! ‘Clap Your Hands’ should have Miami cheque books waving at it in a very unseemly manner and is a very wise investment for any deep house dj. More addictive than methamphetamine. Palm puppies required.
