As always Gilb’R delivers exciting, challenging music and with this latest release for Versatile that’s exactly what you get. The title track, ‘Le Maitre Des Illusions’ fuses deep bass together with funky percussion loops and hot-wired electronics that positively sizzle. Not an always comfortable journey through sound but one that will undoubtedly leave an indelible impression, and isn’t that part of the point? ‘Approaching Kether’ is an altogether different proposition with tones of experimental Pink Floyd creeping through the arrangement to inspire this first rate piece of electronic music that never once stops for breath.
