Glimpse’s ‘Baretta’ is a ticklish, richocheting percussive workout that splashes in clearwater puddles, jumps from stepping stone kick to stepping stone kick, crosses bridges made of clicking claves, then crosses the murky effects laden, marshland below on a bassline swing that extends and contracts wildly, just for the fun of it. It’s the kind of mix track that dj’s love to make interminable, extended loops with. ‘L.E.D’ opens with the vocal ‘heavy h-h-h-h-heavy’ loop then bounces on a round and hollow bassline that time travels you back to touch the foundation stones of house and techno. Chris Spero’s ‘Baretta’ is already a solid fixture in the boxes of George Fitzgerald and Scuba and that is just praise indeed. Worth the purchase and the plays.
