Guy Gerber & Puff Daddy – Tourist Trap (Remixes) – (Rumours)

No sooner have I wet my knickers over the gorgeous Jamie Jones remix of Tourist Trap and invested in a pack of Tena Ladies, then along comes this rather sterling pack of remixes to make me lose my bladder control once again and have to invest in the company. Yes – each of these remixes is worth having in its own right (and is worth soiling yourself in public or private if the whim so takes you). Guy Gerber and David K go for the jugular dropping Puff Daddy’s monotone fx-ed vocal over some straight house beats, a plucked bassline and parping then dark pitched voices to scare the bejeebees out of the weak of heart. Soulclap deliver a moody looking weather front, wind, rain and storms a brewing with a wobbly tom to push it all along. It’s the perfect scene setter and stealer for early sessions and slow burn back rooms. In my opinion Jamie Jones gets the remix just right, finding a melody line from God knows where, working some orgasmic builds and drops into the mix, brightening the darkness with a rinky dink keyboard sound but also layering on the darkness with a giant’s trowel and in just the right places. It thoroughly merits my Tena Ladies investment all on its own. Visionquest keep it gutsy, proggy and super funky and to close, Renaissance Man add a low riding, breaks dynamic that will have the Dark Knight twirling his keys to the Batmobile and itching to take it for a joyride. Tourist Trap? More like a bear trap.
