Slam will unleash their fourth album, Human Response, in July. Undoubtedly one of the records of the year, it’s a marvelously subtle development of their knack of simply making the most compulsive electronic declarations in techno. Meanwhile, here’s a trailer, following from the amazing ‘Azure’ with a haunting guest vocal from label-mate My Robot Friend over one of their intricate, heady sound-scapes. The groove rolls through a melancholy dubscape wrapped in airy melodies which, with the low-key vocals, somewhat recalls another label-mate, Alex Smoke. The flip’s ‘We’re Not Here’ ploughs more of a minimal furrow, resonant and shadowy with a mute take on a Hardfloor riff in the under-carriage. Fifteen years on, Stuart and Orde are on top of their game. Now just wait for the album.
