True underground house heads will already be dialled in to the excellent output of James Silk. He has been impressing since 2012 when he scored his first hit with ‘Can’t Wait’ and now serves up two more super cool cuts. As a DJ who has headlined places like Watergate, James really knows how to work a floor in style. Opening up his account here is La Noche, which presumably means The Night in some language or other because that is the vibe here – twinkling melodies are like a starry sky above supple, elastic and inviting beats. Deep house never sounded better or more emotive frankly. The other great cut to come with this is ‘This Journey’, which is a little more upright and driven, with spiritual pads, rubbery drums and muffled vocal samples that add an all important human flavour to the beats. All in all, another fine EP from James Silk on the always solid Hive Audio.
