Julio Bashmore releases the ‘Simple Love’ EP – his first new music for 2014 that will make you feel like a kid in a candy store. ‘Simple Love’ is steamy and summery on top, shivery and whispery on the bottom and flaunts a sub bass so sexy that it’ll make you look over the top of your sunglasses and sigh saying ‘ooh’. ‘Petals’ packs a more powerful punch: it’s got a Kerri Chandler-ish old skool feel to it but it pokes holes in your speaker cones and the reversed synth pads and brass licks score highly. By twists and turns it’s deep, soulful, then teases with its tinny techno splash and tickle. Underground and overground the ‘Simple Love’ EP ticks boxes with consummate ease and is a righteous introduction to Julio’s forthcoming album on his Boardwalk imprint that’s scheduled for February 2015.
