Celebrating the labels 50th release comes this from the imprints founder Matt Tolfrey alongside jozif under the joint alias of Kerb Staller. Featuring two tracks and accompanying remixes of each, however it doesn’t get much more hard-hitting than the opening, ‘Safety Instructions’. Powered by funk-fuelled breaks and a gritty kick drum pounding four to the floor this irresistible instrumental saves the best till last as the bassline expands into Acid heaven. Jerome Sydenham provides a feverish, deep and darker interpretation that’s best heard with the lights down low for epic results. Next is, ‘Siren Song’ which has George Clinton styled bass grooving over punchy beats with a welcome splash of vocal providing the human touch, or check the excellent Dub. The Thugfuckers Lios Wide Shut Rework again delivers an alternative vision to the original with moody synths and tribal drums journeying their way into ten minutes of atmospheric ecstasy.
