Following the success (yet to be fully realised) of Quentin Harris’ ‘Let’s Be Young’, the NRK chequebook out once more. Big as an instrumental on import, now the label adds a vocal courtesy to ‘Bar A Thym’ from the Foremost Poets. The cowbell is by far one of the most underutilised musical instruments at the disposal of any dance producer – it ranks up there with the didgeridoo, banjo and washboard – but the man known as Kaos 6:23 strikes a percussive frenzy not heard since the Universal Robot Band in the late ’70s! Around since Miami the blend of the driving percussion with deep grooves will appeal to those with a slant towards afro-beat, yet addition of the spoken, almost-spiritual sermon, now opens this up to far more then just pool parties and cocktails on the terrace. In a word:
multifunctional.
