Kim Ann Foxman – Open The House – (Firehouse)

Kim Ann Foxman’s revitalising journey into Acid House recalls but reinvigorates the indelible impression created by Roland’s infamous 303 bass machine for the second release on her joint imprint. ‘Open The House’ doesn’t feel over-produced and indeed retains that raw edged production style that so typified the era and its consequent energy levels. Eli Escobar’s excellent remix of the same proceeds to add jackin’ Chicago bass to shuffling drums alongside eerie vocals and sparkling Techno tones. The self-explanatory, ‘The Lady is A Vamp’ then explores more contemporary ideals with moody rhythms and atmosphere’s sounding typically tempting, as does the gritty electronic sassiness of the following ‘Eye See Me’. Eli’s DJ Tool Mix of ‘Open The House’ completes with a stripped back rendition that feels surprisingly complete and ready to fire. .
