Kindimmer – Occhiolism EP – (Poker Flat Recordings)

If you like to engage with music that provokes you into thinking about it. Then this new release will do just that – one way or another. I’ve played this a couple of times in a row just to review it and the EP’s opening gambit ‘The Subject’ combines a weird array of shuffling percussion, low-end bass theory plus twisted FX and treatments with the sort of creative juice that quenches rather dulls the senses. I like that this isn’t strictly House but then I guess it isn’t quite Techno either. So what. It is imaginative, fiery music which will always play out as infinitely more challenging than the usual tech-house cliques around. Next, the suitably titled,’Anxiety Society’ pounds out tribal beats and not a lot else, but still manages to compel you. ‘Your Name Of Choice’ then offers a funkier solution with warmer, filtered grooves to lighten the mood, as ‘Stanza 103’ completes this great release with sizzling percussion carving out yet more atmospheric intensity. Vinyl Only.
