This is a lucky bag of yet to be released electronica gems that does not merit being so shamefully overlooked by yours truly. Pyramid ‘Astral’ is that kind of grungey, heavy, french electronica that is just perfect for lovers of Digitalism, Bloody Beetroots and Justice whilst Lifelike remixes ‘The Phoenix’ into a bouncing, rubbery, rapped m*therf*cking riot. I can see this going off at Wanderlust and the Social with no problem at all when they ‘Turn the music loud and cut the lights off’. Horixon ft Robert Owens ‘Lifeline’ – is an old skool sounding, soulful house track that puts me in mind of Larry Heard. My favourite track Techniques ‘Switch’ is an orchestral, piano house special that beats you hard then blazes a scorching trail into your consciousness. It’s bigger than an elephant’s arse in a circus mirror and stops the light shining on anything other in just the same way. Clever.
